Stuff its what I been doing. Some of the stuff I been doing includes watching tv shows, I recently finished northern exposure, the wire and one or two other shows. I recently started watching numb3rs and have been enjoying it.
Drinking is more stuff I been doing and spending time with mates..that is good stuff. Went Go karting on sat and bowling…the two shouldn’t be done on the same day my shoulders are telling me
Last week on wednesday night I went with Raina to see Transformers 2, it was ok. Longer than the first and more explosions than you can poke a stick at and more stupid slomo michael fucking bay shit than should ever be in a movie. The plot was kinda lame and it wasn’t nearly as good as the first one.. although Megan Fox was not bad too look at.
Why oh Why did someone during the making of this film not stop and say “We are depicting infantary fighting giant fucking robots…this is stupid even if they are special forces” Oh and a huge amount of product placement in this one even more than the last I think.
Altogether I give it a 2 thumbs up.
So my holidays were over 3 weeks or so ago. I spent most of it watching tv I got through
- Season 1-5 Two and a half men
- Season 3-4 the pretender
- Season 1-3 Seaquest
- Season 1-2 Weeds.
- Season 1ish of Batman the brave and the bold
I also saw X-men Origins: Wolverine and Star trek while on holidays both good movies.
X-men Origins: Wolverine is the story above Wolverines past and how he gets his adamantium skeleton, escapes looses his memory and all that. It was a good action flick with some great special effects and nice fight scenese. It lost some points with me because it wasn’t accurate to what I am aware of with wolverine and some of the supporting cast’s histories it gets 3.5/5 thumbs up.
star trek was great it was an excellent reboot and I think it will draw non trekkies to future star trek movies it was just well done all round. The cast did a good job of bringing traits from the original characters to the movie (especially bones) the special effects were good my only gripes are some of what they portrayed was stupidly insulting (atomspheric entry jump?) and that they had to use time travel yet again..however the purpose of the reboot was to also setup an alternate reality and time line so i guess it was needed. It gets 4.5/5 thumbs up.
I also played wolverine on the pc and beat it..twas a fun game with some ok graphics and some nice violence. I bought stalker in the last week of holidays for #10 but haven’t played it much…such a good deal thoug
I saw the hangover last Sunday it was pretty funny 3.2/5 thumbs up from me
Nana died a week ago tomorrow, I went to Sydney on Thursday and spent time with the family before attending the funeral on Friday. The service was short (30mins) and sans religious bullshit which was nice..after we went to pops for drinks and nibbles until later in the night.
I spent the next 2 days down in Sydney with family and visited other grandparents and went to nieces 1st bday party (dumb idea)
Umm yeah done.
Karl be on holidays and today I have
- Installed new adsl modem
- Reconfigured home network to use my linksys as router and dhcp server
- reconfigured wireless config to use WPA2
- reconfigured devices to use wpa2 as well
My n95 unfortunately doesn’t support TKIP which is a tad annoying but I will survive.
My DSL2 now synchs at 8mbps instead of 6mbps I would prefer it to be faster but at least there has been an improvement.
Oh and later I be going to wolverine again.
I am sick to death of going to pubs in Coffs and having to listen to shitty top 40 pop crap music, or really bad songs from the past 5 years that seem to keep getting played over and over again.
On tuesday while at the greenhouse tavern in the sports bar near the pool tables all night long there was shit music, the random selection on the “jukebox” device seemed incapable of selecting any good (i suspect by design) the only way to get some rock or something decent was to pay to select a song..oh and seem you have pay more to make it jump a queue or it wont play at all from previous experience.
I think to be called a pub they should have to have rock music 75% of the time otherwisse its some trendy wine bar or crap club (unless its a metal club..which can be exempt). I am tired of going into aussie pubs and not having my damn rock music.
*exhale*
In other news I want a Tshirt that says “Demonstrated incompetence is punishable by death” and the legal authority to carry it out…
So two weeks or so ago I had a red light show up on my Thecus N299 NAS box..this light indicated something was not good (red usually does). I thought I had lost the 700gb or so of data on there and was most unhappy.
I fired one disk up at the time by attaching it to a sata/ide to usb adapter and thought well the other disk must be the broken one..this was a bad assumption as I found out on sunday when I did the same with the second disk, both the disks were fine I could read the partion table of both and when I fired the disks up seperately on while attached to my mythtv box it seemed to be part of some RAID array. So I downloaded the System Rescue CD, attached the two drives to my main machine and boot it up and at the end of dmesg output (always handy) i noticed two arrays were recognised so I mounted the first one (md0) and it seemed to be the OS for the nas as well as some log files which seem to indicate the device had detected the filesystem or something on one disk was not all good and removed it from the volume thus breaking itself. I mounted the second array md1 and was able to see all the directories for data on the disk and was then able to copy files off it to another seperate disk (didn’t want to risk ntfs write to OS drive). I didn’t take all the files just the ones I knew I would want in the short term I plan to build a proper file server with redundancy and will copy the rest off when that is built.
So If your Thecus N299 seems to fail I would suggest grabbing down the system rescue CD, attaching the two drives to another machine, booting the cd and try recovering the data.
this be my first bog post from my phone. Yay for wlan
So i have been playing much spore, several 2:30am bed times due to the game. I have in the past few days started playing The Witcher as well its an interesting RPG that uses the NWN2 engine and so far has been fun.
