So my holidays were over 3 weeks or so ago. I spent most of it watching tv I got through
- Season 1-5 Two and a half men
- Season 3-4 the pretender
- Season 1-3 Seaquest
- Season 1-2 Weeds.
- Season 1ish of Batman the brave and the bold
I also saw X-men Origins: Wolverine and Star trek while on holidays both good movies.
X-men Origins: Wolverine is the story above Wolverines past and how he gets his adamantium skeleton, escapes looses his memory and all that. It was a good action flick with some great special effects and nice fight scenese. It lost some points with me because it wasn’t accurate to what I am aware of with wolverine and some of the supporting cast’s histories it gets 3.5/5 thumbs up.
star trek was great it was an excellent reboot and I think it will draw non trekkies to future star trek movies it was just well done all round. The cast did a good job of bringing traits from the original characters to the movie (especially bones) the special effects were good my only gripes are some of what they portrayed was stupidly insulting (atomspheric entry jump?) and that they had to use time travel yet again..however the purpose of the reboot was to also setup an alternate reality and time line so i guess it was needed. It gets 4.5/5 thumbs up.
I also played wolverine on the pc and beat it..twas a fun game with some ok graphics and some nice violence. I bought stalker in the last week of holidays for #10 but haven’t played it much…such a good deal thoug
I saw the hangover last Sunday it was pretty funny 3.2/5 thumbs up from me
Nana died a week ago tomorrow, I went to Sydney on Thursday and spent time with the family before attending the funeral on Friday. The service was short (30mins) and sans religious bullshit which was nice..after we went to pops for drinks and nibbles until later in the night.
I spent the next 2 days down in Sydney with family and visited other grandparents and went to nieces 1st bday party (dumb idea)

So Karl what have you been up to?
I’ve seen a bunch of movies and watched a bunch of tv shows and spent time with friends. Of the movies I have seen Batman The Dark Knight stood out as the best one this year..what an excellent movie. Others worthy of mention mostly because I enjoyed them Hancock, Indiana Jones 4, Ironman, The Incredible Hulk. Movies that get a mention because you should avoid them Wanted, Love Guru.
On the TV front I have spread the word of dexter and got a few of my workmates and friends watching it, I have watched many a series and am currently watching the weekly episodes of burn notice, eureka, stargate atlantis, the middleman and weeds. I have also been rewatching babylon 5 and for the first time a show called John Doe.
Work has changed a little I am no long doing Level 1 support and my stuff has moved I’m now in the poorly named hosting unit and my duties are primarily System Admin stuff and some higher level support. I have to say the change has been good and bad..there are many things in use that I am now expected to manage that I know jack all about but fake it anyway, but the best part is not being on the phones even if I do have a manger I have to train.

I hate mondays and I miss the weekend.
I watched a bit of classic dr who this weekend, some sg-1 and shoot em up again it was pretty good..also played some hellgate london which is fun but shits me at times when it crashes in the middle of kicking some arse and i have to play through the same levels over and over again.
Well I worked back last night fortunately only 30 mins not too pleased about that. When I got home I watched some classic Dr Who and stuffed around a little on facebook ate some reheated pizza. Later on Raina came over and we watched the Shawshnk Redemption, we had both had a few questions on it on facebook when doing the movie quiz and she had read the book a few weeks ago and bought the dvd last week.
I enjoyed the Shawshank redemption, Morgan Freeman was great as usual and while I am not a fan of Tim Robbins he was good in the movie. I give it 4.2 thumbs up
After Raina Left I played Hellgate london until about 4:30 then went to bed.
Well another day and I am at work..damn I hate work.
Last night I went to Raina’s and we had some nachos and watched some very funny Boston Legal and Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles.
TSCC is ok, Summer Glau is good as a Terminator, Lena Headly however and the way the writers are portraying Sarah Conner is not ok. Sarah Conner wouldn’t be concerned about killing someone to protect John, She would be concerned if she killed them too slow or made it too drawn out. The Sarah Conner from Terminator was hardcore not this soft whiner (who finally beat someone down) the writers so far haven’t exactly been portraying Sarah Conner, I hope the episodes to come do a better job. Sarah Conner is Hardcore Tough and would willingly enter a fight with anyone and kill anyone who tried to hurt John.
The weekend is gone.. it was entertaining.
Friday I left work early using flexitime which was good, went to Raina’s on friday for dinner and watched superman returns which was also good.
I spent a bit of time watching the 4400 season 1 and up to episode 10 of season2..When it first aired here I didn’t watch it but I am actually enjoying it. I also bought ghost rider, hot fuzz, scarface and transformers the game. I watched ghost rider it was ok and hot fuzz cracked me up. I couldn’t install transformers it seems to require XP ..yet another game my machine meets the reqs for and I can’t play this is really annoying me. I might have to get XP soon
I did some other stuff as well helped Raina a little with some of her stuff, played pool last night at the coffs as well as some pokies at the RSL.
Umm yeah I’ll leave it at that.

I realised when I saw someone talking about their blog that I hadn’t posted in a while its not that I haven’t had plenty to rant about it takes effort.
For those who are watching and for some reason might care or at least want to read what i have been up to it can pretty much be summarised and not much. Since the last post I have watched a shitload of heroes, prisonbreak, 24, xmen the animated series season 1-5, some BL, some gg, mutant x (i don’t know why) and 2.3 seasons of trek tng. I have been going to play free pool most tuesdays and sunday nights at times playing upto 20 games in a night and it hasn’t helped.
I have also been spending time with mates seeing a few movies and have enrolled at uni although I haven’t done any work yet. Speaking of work i worked last Sunday and will be again this Sunday..damn why did I agree to that. Work still sucks i worked out today that i haven’t had a pay rise in 20ish months despite my responsibilities and duties increasing oh well.

DO NOT watch the Break up..if you have already I’m sorry I too wish I could get that time of my life back..if you haven’t don’t watch it, it sucks.
In other news, I have mostly been working and gaming. I finished watching highlander the other day all 6 seasons watched..not too bad. I have been watching heroes each week as well as smallville, supernatural and eureka i have to say I hate the one episode a week thing but I LOVE not waiting until it airs in Australia three cheers for BT.
Recently bought games include Prey, GTA: Vice city, True crimes and I downloaded the SWG trial (4.4GB fun!). Prey is interesting and fun, you never really die you just goto a spirit realm where you can come back…well after a certain point in the game. GTA is well GTA its good fun with plenty of cars and violence, true crims is similar to gta. SWG is a Star Wars MMO and so far i have had fun tonnes o quests and I am a jedi…who has force lightning (all do) which is alwas good.
Oh I had 2 days of work this week sick..even though I was sick it was so nice not to goto work.

Last week I saw Mission Impossible 3 i expected it would suck and be all about tom and surprise surprise it wasn;t completely and didn’t entirely suck.It was a good action flick lots of big explosions, pretty stunts and special effects..sure some of the stuff was really super lame but its Mission Impossible what do you expect. Phillip Seymour Hoffman made an awesome bad dude and toms “crew” where also good although they could have been given a bit more screen time.Overall i would give this a 3/5 thumbs up.

Well I finished deep space 9, then i moved onto series 4 and 5 of angel and watched them in under a week I enjoyed all of those shows many hours sitting on my arse watching dvd’s yay!
Other
I’m on leave now, after haing been at my job for 3 years I started my leave the monday of the anniversery of 3 years and have been enjoying my time off…I watched some dvd’s (Kill Bill Vol 1 and Xmen 1.5), i did some driving (thanks Raina) and as a big surprise to me (and probably anyone who knows me) some reading so far its been a very relaxing break. On Friday i head down to Sydney and return on the 29th so that is a big chunk of my holidays down there…hope i can keep myself entertained without my computer/dvd’s…eep.
