Raina and I went and saw Beowulf last night we had seen the previews and thought that it could either be very good or very bad. Turns out is was just very “Interesting”.
Neither of us realised before we went in that the movie was entirely CG every character in the movie was a CG character based on a actor. The story was good although a little drawn out and the CG was pretty amazing..but movies where they try to do every single character in CG don’t work for me. One thing that was super annoying was the fact that because they could they use weird and stupid angles that you wouldn’t touch ordinarily they did. Additionally because they can do anything they want and they can ignore reality they do..they ask you to suspend disbelief a little too much. Monsters, dragons, demons, heroes I can all get behind being in a movie..but some of what was in this movie was more than a little daft.
When we got home we looked the movie up in imdb to see who played what and had a laugh at the plot keywords. “Impalement / Stabbed In The Arm / Sliced In Two / Shield / Burning City” the list goes on it made us chuckle.
All in all I think i will give it a 2.5 thumbs up.
Well last week I got my P’s which is good because now I’m allowed to drive my car (had I mentioned I got a car?) around which is good for me. I also had a stereo installed in my car and last night I realised I can plug any audio playback device in and play it out the speakers which is cool.
I’ve seen some movies lately
Click – An Adam Sandler flick, he was angry as usual. The story is basically a man is given a “universal remote” which allows him to fast forward, rewind, pause, mute etc his life..the remote learns his patterns and this has some negative concequences for him. It was funny until about half way through then it went down holl I’ll give it 2/5 thumbs up.
Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead mans chest: The sequal to a good movie, Johnny Depp is back as the pirate Captain Jack Sparrow and he has to settle his debt to Davey Jones. This was an enjoyable movie it had some really cool CG and was funny as well as some nice action scenes. I’ll give it a 3.75/5 thumbs up
